Our Story

Nesrin Demiray and her daughter Arzu Aydoğan beginning to work together in 2002 with an unexpected decision meant that Sihirli Bahçe Montessori School was first established in their minds. They brought their ideas to life from the very beginning with all their seriousness and sincerity.

First, Arzu Aydoğan conducted detailed research on the Montessori Method and other existing methods. As a result of these studies, it was found that the Montessori Method was the most successful, scientifically based, and systematic method in preschool education, making it ideal for children aged 2–6.

Since one of the most important features of the method is its need for a distinctive environment, we focused on this aspect at the start of the project. Every dimension of the Montessori environment must be tailored to the size of children. Therefore, instead of trying to adapt an existing building to suit the Montessori Method, we decided to build our own facility. We enjoyed the process of constructing Sihirli Bahçe Montessori School so much that we have also planned and built our other schools from scratch. The successful architects who contributed to all the interior and exterior design of the school are Mürşit Günday and Şerife Meriç. The design of the building emerged as a result of the collaborative work of the school's management team and the architects. The design process was one in which everyone focused in detail on Montessori Education. This meticulous work makes the building’s uniqueness immediately apparent to all visitors, and over time, the children in the building develop an extraordinary aesthetic sense under the harmonious influence of the environment.

Sihirli Bahçe Montessori School first opened its doors to its team on September 1, 2003. While the teachers began learning the Montessori Method through in-service training, other staff members were informed about the spaces they would work in and the tasks they would perform. However, most importantly, we laid the foundations for the unity of our team and the shared educational philosophy that we have today during those days.

About four weeks later, on Monday, September 29, 2003, we welcomed our first students to the school. On our first day, our four female students stepped into an important phase of their lives with the same excitement as their teachers. The trust that our students and their families placed in us on that day laid the seeds for the trust felt by today's students, our alumni whose numbers have exceeded one hundred, and their families.

As a Montessori School, we have faithfully carried out our duty of promoting the Montessori Method in Turkey since 2003. And most importantly, with the awareness of bearing Dr. Maria Montessori’s name, we continue to implement the educational method—an achievement of her genius—with the same seriousness and care as on the first day.

The Architecture of Our Buildings

Our buildings feature a Mondrian-style approach with touches of Yves Saint Laurent. The same style prevails throughout all Sihirli Bahçe locations.
It is intended for the space to be simple and functional. The furniture is child-sized and functional. There is no item in the space that children cannot use. In Montessori Education, you can view the materials as if they were chapters of a book. The order of these chapters is similar to the arrangement of materials in the classroom. Finding the sequence that the child understands best and learns most efficiently requires great experience and wisdom. Sihirli Bahçe follows a unique flow in the ordering and presentation of Montessori Materials. At the same time, it brings a different perspective to the Montessori Method with the tools it has designed on its own.

We provide opportunities for children to believe in themselves. The road to success goes through a trial-and-error process. We nurture confident individuals by teaching that making mistakes is a learning opportunity.
